Spider-Man: Brand New Day; Becomes Biggest Hollywood Hit in Indian Box Office History

Tom Holland’s latest Marvel‑Sony outing, Spider‑Man: Brand New Day, has shattered Indian box‑office records, eclipsing James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water to become the highest‑grossing Hollywood film in India. Released on July 30, the film crossed the ₹500‑crore threshold in just eleven days, a first for any Hollywood production in the country.

In its opening week the movie drew a massive crowd, earning ₹60.60 crore net on day one and surpassing the opening‑day record previously held by Avengers: Endgame. Over the next three days collections climbed to ₹49.35 crore, ₹70.25 crore and ₹77.75 crore respectively, culminating in a four‑day opening weekend total of more than ₹257 crore. This marks the biggest opening weekend ever achieved by a Hollywood film in India.

While weekday numbers dipped, the film continued to perform strongly: day five added ₹23.80 crore, day six ₹21.75 crore, day seven ₹17 crore, and day eight ₹14.25 crore. By the end of its first week, Spider‑Man: Brand New Day had netted ₹334.75 crore, setting a new record for the first‑week gross of a Hollywood release in the market.

The second weekend proved equally impressive. After earning ₹17.96 crore on the second Friday, the film surged to ₹37.10 crore on Saturday and ₹41.53 crore on Sunday, pushing its cumulative net collection to ₹415.45 crore. The gross earnings have now surpassed the ₹500 crore mark, cementing the film’s place as India’s biggest Hollywood blockbuster in record time.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Spider‑Man: Brand New Day surpassed Avatar: The Way of Water by roughly 4% in a fraction of the time, achieving what the 2022 blockbuster took weeks to reach. The film also overtook Avengers: Endgame for the biggest Hollywood opening in India, highlighting the continued popularity of the superhero genre among Indian audiences.
