Wamiqa Gabbi is riding a wave of success in 2026, beginning the year with the box‑office hit Bhooth Bangla alongside Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan, then moving on to Pati, Patni Aur Woh Do before earning critical praise for her role as Chandra in the recently released Tamil film DC: The Bloody Valentine. The actress has now secured what many are calling the biggest project of her career.
According to an exclusive report from Bollywood Hungama, Gabbi has signed on to play a prominent, powerful character in Prasanth Varma’s pan‑India mythological epic Jai Hanuman, which also stars Rishab Shetty. While details of her role remain under wraps, Gabbi has expressed excitement about stepping into a world of mythology, action and devotion, and is set to join the film’s Hyderabad schedule shortly.
Jai Hanuman is the long‑awaited sequel to Varma’s 2024 blockbuster Hanu‑Man, which followed a petty thief who discovers Hanuman‑like powers. In the sequel, Shetty takes over as the lead, portraying Lord Hanuman himself. The film promises a high‑octane action epic set in Kaliyug, celebrating Hanuman’s devotion, loyalty and timeless strength while depicting him as an immortal spirit.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and presented by T‑Series, the film expands the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), a superhero universe inspired by India’s sacred history. Other upcoming PVCU titles include Mahakali, focused on Goddess Kali, and Adhira, based on Lord Indra. Filming began in March and is progressing rapidly, with a theatrical release slated for the second half of 2027.
In addition to Jai Hanuman, Gabbi’s 2026 slate is packed. She will appear with Rajkummar Rao in Maddock Films’ Prahaar, set to hit screens in September, followed by Adivi Sesh’s action thriller Goodachari 2 later in the year. Other projects include Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling with Siddhant Chaturvedi, Genie with Ravi Mohan, and Dharma Productions’ Kuku Ki Kundali alongside Bhuvan Bam.
