Sunny Leone stars in new horror comedy Chudail; set for September release

Sunny Leone is set to headline a new horror‑comedy called Chudail, a film that blends supernatural drama with humor and music. The story unfolds in North India, with the actress playing a spirit who haunts the streets of Bulandshahr after suffering grave injustice in life. According to reports, her character lures men, but she is not portrayed as an all‑black witch; instead, her backstory explains her desire for vengeance in the afterlife.

Filming took place extensively in Uttar Pradesh, including a haveli in Bulandshahr where the supernatural scenes were shot. The production team employed extensive VFX to transform Leone from a beautiful woman into a glowing‑eyed spirit with reversed feet. The movie also features Mandana Karimi as another supernatural force and Rahul Dev as a priest who becomes entangled in the conflict between the two entities.

Producer Mahindra Dhariwal confirmed that Chudail will be a pan‑India release, shot in Hindi and later dubbed into Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. He noted that the film marks his 50th project as a producer and highlighted its musical elements. Dhariwal said the film is scheduled for a theatrical release at the end of September.

Leone’s return to the horror genre follows her 2014 performance in Ragini MMS 2, where she played a possessed woman. In Chudail, she takes on a new avatar as a witch, combining horror, comedy, and music to offer audiences a fresh experience. The film is expected to appeal to both Hindi‑speaking viewers and those who will enjoy the dubbed versions in other Indian languages.
