In recent weeks, several Bollywood stars have taken to social media and press interviews to set the record straight on rumours about their next projects. The most high‑profile clarifications came from Emraan Hashmi, Ranbir Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, and Vikrant Massey, each addressing speculation that had taken on a life of its own in the media.
Emraan Hashmi, who was linked to a biopic about legendary singer‑composer R.D. Burman, was also rumored to be cast as the late comedian Mehmood in a separate biographical film. On August 11, the actor posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the reports of him playing Mehmood were untrue, adding that he had not been approached for the film and was not involved in any such project.
Ranbir Kapoor, meanwhile, found himself at the centre of a Dhoom 4 rumor. After a decade since the franchise’s last installment, speculation ran that the actor could step into the antagonist role. Kapoor clarified during a promotion for the film Ramayana at the San Diego Comic Con in July that he was working on that movie and a new project titled Love & War, directed by Sanjay Bhansali, which is slated for release on January 24 of next year. He stated that he had no plans to join the Dhoom series.
Farhan Akhtar was also asked about his involvement in Aamir Khan’s upcoming sports drama Lalkaar. When questioned by Mid Day, Akhtar quipped, “How do I exit a project when I had never even entered it officially?” effectively denying any participation.
Vikrant Massey faced rumours that he had been replaced by Raghav Juyal in Nitesh Tiwari’s epic Ramayana. He addressed the claim on Instagram, posting a soon‑deleted story that read, “OK. To put things to rest, I was never a part of this movie. Am not, never was… Nonetheless, wishing everyone on Ramayana all the very best. Will surely buy a ticket and watch it in cinemas.”
These statements come at a time when Bollywood news cycles are notoriously swift, and rumours can quickly spin into headlines. The actors’ public denials serve to curb speculation and give fans accurate information about their upcoming work.
