Bollywood stars Mallika Sherawat and Rhea Chakraborty are confirmed participants in the upcoming season of the reality‑drama series The Traitors. The pair’s first public encounter on the show came before its premiere, when a clip leaked online showed the two actresses in a heated exchange that quickly went viral.
In the footage, Rhea defends a contestant after he comments on Mallika’s “comeback”, saying, “I don’t think that was something so bad.” Mallika retorts, “Oh, this is your comeback? Who is he to comment on that, Rhea? Is this game about comeback? I would also say, ‘Oh Rhea, you were in jail. This is the big comeback for you?’” The remark about Rhea’s prior jail term sparked a divided reaction on social media.
Some viewers praised Mallika’s comment as “savage,” while others condemned it as disrespectful. Comments ranged from “It’s disrespectful, guys. It’s not savage or roast” to “Dragging personal things into a TV show is somehow getting glorified. Lmao.” A few fans, however, defended Mallika, calling her “the OG baddie” and expressing excitement for the season.
The controversy has added buzz to the show’s launch. The Traitors Season 2 will be hosted again by Karan Johar and will feature a roster of celebrities including Aaditya Kulshreshth, Abhishek Malhan, Ansh Chopra, Dalip Tahil, Harman Singha, Ikka Singh, Karan Singh Magic, Krystle D’Souza, Mallika Sherawat, Munawar Faruqui, Parul Gulati, Prish, Ranveer Brar, Rhea Chakraborty, Rida Tharana, Sahil Salathia, Shahneel Gill, Shalini Passi, Shweta Tiwari, Soundous Moufakir and Tanya Puri.
The format will split contestants into Faithfuls and Traitors, with three secret Traitors attempting to eliminate the Faithfuls while keeping their identities hidden. The drama, betrayals and mind games that defined the first season—where Uorfi Javed and Nikita Luther emerged victorious—promise to return in even greater intensity for the new series.
