Cinema VinesLokesh Kanagaraj, who has built a reputation as a director, steps into the spotlight as a lead actor with his latest Tamil romantic action drama, DC. The film, released worldwide on 7 August 2026, sees Kanagaraj playing Devadas, a marginalized figure who, together with his companions, fights to safeguard an innocent family from police brutality while staying one step ahead of a ruthless cop. Opposite him is Wamiqa Gabbi, who portrays Chandra, and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy joins the principal cast.
Directed and written by Arun Matheswaran, DC also credits Arun Ranjan for additional screenplay work, while dialogues were penned by Matheswaran and Franklin Jacob. The movie’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with Mukesh G handling cinematography and G K Prasanna editing the film. Associate editor Harish Arun, art director Kannan S, and stunt coordinator PC Stunts contributed to the visual and action elements. Costume design was also overseen by Matheswaran, with Vinoth Sukumaran on makeup and Vinay Sridhar on audiography.
The post‑production team included Vignesh Guru from Knack Studios, who assisted with the Atmos mix, and Ranga as the colourist. Prasad Film Labs managed the DI lab work, while VFX was handled by Praveen D. Publicity design was crafted by Kabilan Chelliah.
Sun Pictures produced DC and has secured the post‑theatrical streaming rights for the platform Sun NXT. Although the film’s opening credits mention the streaming service, an official OTT release date has not yet been announced. Viewers can currently enjoy the film in theatres, with an anticipated online premiere on Sun NXT to follow once the release schedule is confirmed.
