Cinema VinesLos Angeles – In a candid interview with Vogue, actress Nicole Kidman opened up about the emotional toll of her two high‑profile divorces, from musician Keith Urban and Hollywood icon Tom Cruise, and how each experience has reshaped her outlook on the future.
Kidman, 59, reflected on the period following her 2006 marriage to Urban, noting that the split in September 2025 was “particularly difficult.” She said she had feared the uncertainty that would come after the divorce, but ultimately chose to move forward with hope. “I can either not confront it and just curl up, or I can go forward with an enormous amount of hope,” she explained.
She added that the divorce was finalized out of court by January, and that the experience forced her to confront a future that was “completely unknown.” When asked whether the first split had prepared her for the scrutiny of the second, Kidman said each divorce felt “all new, every time.”
Kidman’s first marriage was to Tom Cruise in 1990, when she was 23 and he 28. The couple split in 2001 after eleven years together. She recalled that she had been deeply in love and did not want her career to influence the decision to marry. “I was 22, 23 years old and I had this huge movie star husband. It just seemed completely natural,” she said. Kidman also recalled warnings that the marriage could impact her career, to which she replied, “I don’t care. I want to be married.”
Throughout the interview, Kidman emphasized the need to adapt and adjust to changing circumstances. “You have to adjust. You adapt. The future, it’s completely unknown to me right now,” she added, underscoring the uncertainty that now defines her personal and professional life.
