Yash skips fan's funeral to avoid setting wrong precedent; prioritizes fan safety

Actor Yash has been busy promoting his upcoming film, Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, which is slated to hit screens on August 26 after a series of delays. The Kannada star, who rose to fame with the KGF franchise, recently appeared on the television show Aap Ki Adalat to discuss his career and the new project, which also features Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria in lead roles.

During the interview, Yash was asked about the death of a 25‑year‑old fan, Ramakrishna, from Kodidoddi village in Karnataka’s Mandya district. Ramakrishna had died by suicide and had left a note requesting that Yash and former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah attend his funeral. While Siddaramaiah did attend, Yash chose not to, explaining that he did not want to set a “wrong precedent.” He said, “If I did this, a lot of people might think that if they do something like this, I will come. That mindset itself is wrong.”

Yash added that attending the funeral could encourage other fans to take extreme actions in the hopes of gaining his presence. He expressed sadness over the fan’s death but emphasized that his decision was driven by a desire to avoid encouraging such behavior. “I felt that if I went, a lot of people could do the same thing,” he said. “If somebody says, let me achieve something, and if I achieve it, Yash should come, I will try to go. But encouraging this particular thing would set a wrong precedent.”

In addition to Toxic, Yash is preparing for the Ramayana trilogy with Nitesh Tiwari, where he will portray Ravana opposite Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. The first part is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release, with the second part slated for Diwali 2027.
