Shreya Ghoshal joins Romy for Mirzapur: The Movie remake; Vaaroon Forever gets a fresh spin

Fans of the popular Indian crime drama series Mirzapur can look forward to a new musical treat as the iconic track “Vaaroon” is set to be re‑imagined for the upcoming feature film, Mirzapur: The Movie. The original song, released in 2020, was composed by Anand Bhaskar with lyrics by Ginny Diwan and was a defining moment of the first season. In the film version, the track will be retitled “Vaaroon Forever” and will feature a duet between celebrated vocalist Shreya Ghoshal and the original singer Romy.

The remake will drop on Tuesday, August 18, according to an independent source quoted by Hindustan Times. The new rendition preserves the soulful Sufi vibe that made the original a fan favorite while adding Ghoshal’s powerful voice to the mix. The original version was picturised on Ali Fazal and Shriya Pilgaonkar, and the new version promises to keep that emotional resonance while giving it a fresh cinematic feel.

Mirzapur: The Movie marks the franchise’s transition from the streaming platform to the big screen. Produced by Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, the film is helmed by director Gurmmeet Singh with a screenplay by Puneet Krishna. It will continue the gritty universe of the series, picking up after the events of the first season and expanding the story’s scope for a theatrical audience.

In a statement released during the film’s trailer launch, producer Farhan Akhtar highlighted the role of the fan base in bringing the movie to life. He noted that the show’s success was driven by audience enthusiasm, with viewers worldwide eagerly awaiting the film’s release. Akhtar expressed gratitude for the support that helped turn the series into a cinematic experience, emphasizing the collaboration with the original cast and new talent.

The film will feature several familiar faces from the series, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal returning as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya. New additions to the cast include Ravi Kishan, who will play a fresh antagonist challenging Kaleen Bhaiya’s dominance, and Jitendra Kumar stepping into the role of Bablu Pandit, a character originally portrayed by Vikrant Massey. Shweta Tripathi and Rasika Dugal are also among the new challengers joining the ensemble.
