Lalit Modi Fires Back; Slams Fake Bigg Boss 20 Rumors

Lalit Modi, the former Indian Premier League founder, has publicly denied reports that he will be a contestant on the upcoming season of the Salman Khan‑hosted reality show Bigg Boss 20. Modi posted on X on Saturday morning that he had not been approached by the show’s producers, broadcasters or any representative, and that he has no intention of participating. “FAKE NEWS. PERIOD. I have NOT been approached for Bigg Boss 20. I am NOT participating in Bigg Boss 20. And I have NO intention of doing so,” he wrote, adding that the story was fabricated and had spread without anyone asking him for confirmation.

In addition to the statement, Modi’s lawyers at Hirani & Associates sent a legal notice to the media outlets and social‑media accounts that had published the rumors. The notice described the claims as “false, baseless and mischievous,” and clarified that no one had been authorized to represent Modi or to suggest his involvement with the program. It also warned that the use of Modi’s name, image, voice and likeness to imply an association with Bigg Boss 20 was unlawful.

The notice emphasized that Modi had not confirmed any alleged participation to any publication and that the reports were released without verification or authorization. It urged the outlets to verify facts before publishing and to refrain from using Modi’s personal attributes to create a false impression of his involvement.

Despite the controversy, anticipation for Bigg Boss 20 remains high. Salman Khan is returning as host, and the Hindi edition is set to premiere on September 6 on JioHotstar and Colors. The first trailer has teased a new format element, introducing an additional “jeevan daan,” or lifeline, for contestants.
