Emraan Hashmi Teases Awarapan 3; Box Office Success Sparks Sequel Hopes

Emraan Hashmi is riding the wave of success from his latest release, Awarapan 2, the long‑awaited sequel to the 2007 cult classic. The film, directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films, opened across Indian theatres on Friday and immediately outpaced the opening day collections of Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, earning a staggering ₹22 crore compared to the rival’s ₹5.75 crore.

During a Mumbai screening, Hashmi joined co‑star Disha Patani at the theatre’s interval, engaging with fans and discussing the film’s reception. In a candid address, he explained that the movie “belongs to the fans more than the makers,” and that the team has “made this journey even more thrilling with more action and emotions.” He added, “The movie is not over yet; the second half is better,” after fans predicted a super‑hit status.

When asked about the possibility of a third instalment, Hashmi hinted at future plans, saying, “We hope you enjoy the entire film, and hopefully, Awarapan 3 very soon.” He also reflected on the lengthy gap between the original and its sequel, noting that he had waited for a script worthy of the first film. The decision to proceed came after writer Bilal Siddiqi presented a compelling story that convinced the actor to move forward.

In addition to Hashmi and Patani, Awarapan 2 features veteran actress Shabana Azmi and Kohrra star Suvinder Vicky in supporting roles. The film’s strong opening has already set a new benchmark for the franchise, and the buzz surrounding a potential third chapter is growing among audiences and industry insiders alike.

Vibha Maru, an Assistant Editor with Hindustan Times Entertainment, has chronicled the film’s journey, noting Hashmi’s dedication to delivering a worthy sequel. With a decade of experience in digital and print media, Maru’s coverage highlights the actor’s commitment to both the storyline and fan expectations as the Awarapan saga continues to unfold.
