The Malayalam thriller Thudakkam has been thrilling audiences at the box office, with its latest collection figures showing a significant rise in India net earnings. According to box office tracking site Sacnilk, the film, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, collected an estimated ₹1.85 crore in India net on its second Saturday, August 15, from 844 shows. This represents an impressive 85% increase over the previous day's figure, which stood at ₹1 crore.
The film, which opened in theatres on August 7, has been steadily gaining momentum since its release. On its first Saturday, Thudakkam collected ₹3.60 crore, and on Sunday, it earned ₹4.25 crore. The weekday collections were ₹1.60 crore each on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, followed by ₹0.85 crore on Thursday. The film's first-week India net collection was approximately ₹16.05 crore.
On the second Friday, Thudakkam added another ₹1 crore to its total, taking it close to the ₹19 crore mark in India net collections. With Sunday, August 16 marking Day 10, the film is currently in its second weekend. The film's overall India occupancy on Day 9 was 40%, a significant increase from the 22% recorded on the second Friday.
Thudakkam's success is not limited to the Indian box office. According to Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated ₹0.50 crore in overseas gross on Day 9, taking its cumulative overseas gross collection to approximately ₹14.80 crore. With the reported India gross of ₹21.92 crore added to the overseas figure, the film's worldwide gross collection stands at around ₹36.72 crore after nine days in theatres.
The film, produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, features Vismaya Mohanlal in the lead, along with a talented ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Aashish Joe Antony, Bobby Kurian, Sai Kumar, K. B. Ganesh Kumar, Manoj K. Jayan, Miya George, and Jaffar Idukki. The film's music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, with Jomon T. John and Akhil George handling cinematography, and Sudeep Elamon providing additional cinematography. Chaman Chakko is the editor, while Santhosh Raman has worked on production design.
