Indian television actress Antara Banerjee has found herself in the headlines after a heated dispute on a train escalated into a violent altercation with a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. The incident occurred on August 12 while Banerjee was traveling to Surat for a shoot on the Aravali Express.
According to reports, Banerjee had boarded the train without a valid ticket for the reserved AC Coach, instead opting for a sleeper-class ticket. When she was asked to vacate the reserved seat by the ticket collector, an altercation broke out, which eventually involved the RPF personnel.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Yaminikant Mishra, who was part of the RPF team, claimed in his complaint that Banerjee began abusing the team after he intervened to help the rightful ticket holder. Witnesses allegedly suggested that Banerjee may have used a razor blade during the altercation, although this has not been confirmed.
Banerjee, a 31-year-old model and actress, has a significant following in the entertainment industry. Born in Kolkata to a Bengali family, she moved to Mumbai in 2013 to pursue a career in acting. Banerjee made her debut in 2012 with the television show Gumrah: End of Innocence and has since appeared in several notable shows, including Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kavach... Mahashivratri, and Divya Drishti.
With a career spanning over a decade, Banerjee has also ventured into the world of music, featuring in a T-Series song titled Chaap Tilak in 2024. Her most recent project, a micro-drama called The Last Shot, is available to stream on Rocket Reels. The actress is also a trained Kathak dancer and has a significant following on Instagram with over 528K followers.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) has booked Banerjee for allegedly attacking the RPF personnel with a blade. She was taken into custody by the Borivali railway police the following morning and is currently facing charges for her involvement in the altercation.
