Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic Ramayana has become a headline‑making event since its announcement, with advance bookings kicking off on Dussehra. The film, produced by Namit Malhotra and starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, and a supporting cast that includes Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, has generated such buzz that ticket prices are soaring across Mumbai’s premium screens.
At PVR Icon 3D IMAX in Lower Parel, the cost of a single recliner seat for the afternoon and evening shows on November 5, 6 and 7 has reached a staggering Rs. 3,170. Even the Sunday show on November 8 is priced at Rs. 2,770 for the same premium seats. By comparison, standard IMAX 3D tickets at Erox Inox IMAX, Churchgate and R City, Ghatkopar, remain under Rs. 1,000 for evening and night showings.
Insignia screenings are also pushing prices high, with tickets for the first four days not falling below Rs. 970. The peak rate for Insignia shows climbs to Rs. 2,370 for late‑afternoon and night screenings on November 5 through 9 at INOX Insignia, Worli. Regular 3D seats see a similar trend, with no tickets available for less than Rs. 400 after late afternoon.
These premium pricing structures mean that viewers who want to experience Ramayana in IMAX or other high‑end formats are paying considerably more than they would for a standard 3D screening. The film’s star‑studded cast, combined with its mythological grandeur, has driven demand to unprecedented levels, making the ticket price hikes a reflection of the audience’s eagerness to see the story unfold on the big screen.
