Television actor Shubhangi Atre has opened up about the relentless pace she endured while filming Ektaa Kapoor’s 2007 drama Kasturi. In a recent interview on the show The Male Feminist, Atre revealed that she once worked for six consecutive days without a break, a testament to the grueling schedules that many actors face on Indian TV sets.
Atre first declined an invitation to join Kasturi, citing her exhaustion from the long‑running serial Kasautii Zindagii Kay. She explained, “I was already working day and night on one show and didn’t want to take on another.” However, an assistant director named Abhishek persuaded her, insisting that she could not refuse Ektaa Kapoor. “You can’t say no to Ektaa ma’am,” he told her. That conversation proved pivotal, as Atre was subsequently selected for the role on 21st September and began filming immediately, with her pack‑up scheduled for the 27th.
During the early days of Kasturi, Atre described the exhausting routine: “I wouldn’t get a pack‑up for three days at a time. When I was doing Kasturi, I was in every frame. It was like the show was telecast on the 24th and I was selected on the 21st. Ektaa Ma’am wasn’t liking any of the girls, and replacements were happening one after another.” She added that she often slept in the vanity, moving from one set to another, layering makeup over makeup.
The series, which ran for over two years until its conclusion in 2009, starred Atre opposite Karan Patel as the titular character Kasturi, a simple and strong‑willed young woman whose life is transformed by her relationship with the affluent Robbie. The show’s mix of romance, misunderstandings, family conflict and betrayal resonated with audiences and cemented Atre’s popularity.
After Kasturi, Atre spent nine years portraying Angoori in the comedy show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, before being replaced by Shilpa Shinde in 2025. She also appeared in the 2026 film Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun On The Run, which failed to perform well at the box office.
