Padmapriya becomes mother; celebrates child's first birthday

Actress Padmapriya revealed that she has become a mother, celebrating her child’s first birthday in a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday. The 42‑year‑old shared photos of the infant clinging to both parents’ hands, captioning the milestone with the simple yet touching line, “365 Days of life. Grateful.” She chose not to disclose the baby’s name or gender, letting the image speak for itself.

The announcement sparked an outpouring of congratulations from friends, fans and fellow filmmakers. Anjali Menon, director of the film Wonder Women in which Padmapriya had played a pregnant woman, commented, “Lil one so big already! Congratulations to the daddy and mommy.” The actress’s joy was further amplified by the supportive comments of her husband, AAP leader Jasmine Shah, who had married her in Mumbai in 2014.

Padmapriya, originally from Gujarat, first met Jasmine while both were studying in New York. The couple later settled in Mumbai, where they have raised their family. Padmapriya’s career began with a debut in Malayalam cinema in Blessy’s 2004 film Kaazhcha, and she has since appeared in numerous Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu productions. Her performance as Neeli in Pazhassi Raja earned her a special mention at the National Film Awards.

Her most recent Malayalam appearance was in the film Oru Thekkan Thallu Case, where she portrayed the character Rukmini. The actress’s new milestone adds a personal chapter to a career that has spanned over two decades, and her fans are eager to see how she balances her evolving roles both on and off the screen.
