On November 5, the epic‑adaptation Ramayana: Part 1 hit screens worldwide, with its first day in Kerala bringing in ₹3 crore. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and a supporting cast that includes Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Arun Govil and Lara Dutta, was produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash and distributed globally by Sony Pictures Entertainment. The screenplay was written by Tiwari and Shridhar Raghavan, while the score was a joint effort between Oscar‑winning composer Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman.
The second day saw a dip to roughly ₹2.15 crore, but Saturday’s revival pushed collections to ₹3.60 crore, bringing the three‑day total to ₹8.75 crore, according to trade tracker AB George. Sunday’s update at 12:16 PM on X showed the film had already amassed ₹3.90 crore from 940 tracked shows, with an occupancy of 83%. By noon, the four‑day gross had crossed ₹13 crore, bringing Ramayana close to the lifetime Kerala figures of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Jawan.
Ramayana has set a new benchmark for Bollywood releases in Kerala, topping the opening weekend haul of other Hindi blockbusters. Its opening weekend gross of ₹9.45 crore eclipsed Jawan’s ₹9.45 crore and Dhurandhar: The Revenge’s ₹9.20 crore, according to AB George. Kerala is emerging as one of the film’s strongest markets, comparable to Tamil Nadu when market size and screening capacity are considered.
With its strong start, Ramayana is inching toward the Kerala lifetime collections of major Hindi releases. Pathaan, Jawan and Dhurandhar: The Revenge have reported Kerala grosses of ₹13.10 crore, ₹13.40 crore and ₹19.50 crore respectively, and Ramayana is now targeting those milestones as it continues to draw audiences in the Malayalam‑speaking region.
