Prakash Raj, Ranjini Haridas Hail Dharmendra Pradhan's Resignation; Student-Led Protest Wins

Actor Prakash Raj celebrated the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling it a triumph for India’s youth. The minister stepped down after a nationwide protest over the NEET exam question‑paper leak, which had seen students, civil‑society groups and activists rally in Delhi for weeks. Raj posted a message on social media, congratulating the protesters and referring to them as “my dear Cockroaches” while praising Sonam Wangchuk and other supporters for forcing the government to respond.

Pradhan’s exit followed sustained pressure from student organisations, including the Cockroach Janata Party, and from activists who refused to call off the agitation until the minister resigned. The demonstrations, led by social activist Sonam Wangchuk, intensified in the capital, with protesters maintaining a presence in Delhi for days to demand accountability from the Centre.

Television host Ranjini Haridas, who had joined the protests from the start, shared an emotional video on social media. She described the resignation as “one of the craziest victories” she had witnessed and credited the country’s young people for making it happen. “This is one of the craziest victories and it happened because of the youngsters, the students of this country coming together and showing their power,” Haridas said, adding that the event had lifted a heavy weight off her heart after a month of turmoil.

The resignation is being hailed by supporters of the movement as a landmark moment for student‑led activism, illustrating how collective action can compel those in power to answer to public demands. Both Raj and Haridas praised the unity and determination of the youth, emphasizing that the protest proved that sustained pressure can force change at the highest levels of government.
