David Anthony Burkes, better known by his stage name D4vd, is currently facing preliminary hearings in Los Angeles County over the 2025 murder of 14‑year‑old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The 21‑year‑old singer was arraigned on April 20, and the case has dominated headlines because of his celebrity status and the gruesome details revealed in the autopsy of the victim.
During last week’s hearing sessions, the autopsy findings were discussed in depth. The medical examiner reported that Hernandez’s death was caused by two puncture wounds to the chest and abdomen. Key text‑message evidence was presented, showing that the victim had threatened to expose their relationship with Burkes, a claim that would have carried significant financial repercussions for the singer.
While the court was set to resume on Monday, a bizarre incident unfolded late on Saturday, July 25. A track titled “I Did It” appeared on D4vd’s Apple Music account, seemingly referencing the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The song went viral almost instantly, leading many to believe it was a confession, even though Burkes had pleaded not guilty earlier in April.
TMZ reported that the Apple Music account was hacked, explaining why the track was released despite Burkes being held in Los Angeles County Jail without access to recording equipment. The track’s lyrics included details such as “the girl with my name tattooed on her chest” and references to Hernandez’s clothes being “like cigarettes,” which further fueled speculation.
Investigators also uncovered plane tickets to Texas and London in Burkes’s house, which he had purchased for the victim. These findings were presented during the preliminary hearing, adding to the mounting evidence against the singer.
Apple Music has not yet responded to TMZ’s request for confirmation, leaving the authenticity of the hacked track in question. As the case progresses, the court will continue to examine the evidence, including the autopsy, text messages, and the alleged fraudulent release of the “I Did It” song.
