Niharika NM on Quitting Content Creation for Acting Career; Making Hindi Film Debut in Bhai Tera Star Hai

Niharika NM, the social media sensation known for her comedy sketches and multilingual videos, has announced her exit from content creation to focus entirely on acting. The 28‑year‑old, who amassed millions of followers on platforms like Instagram and YouTube, said she stopped producing online content roughly three years ago, even though it meant giving up a lucrative paycheck at the peak of her digital career.

In a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, Niharika described the decision as a calculated risk. "It was a risk I was willing to take at the peak of my social media career because I truly believed that I wanted to be part of bigger, larger stories that I was passionate about telling," she explained. She added that the transition was daunting but that she had confidence in her ability to rebuild if necessary.

Her background in theatre and formal education—an MBA and an MFA from Chapman University—has long fueled her acting ambitions. "Storytelling has always been what I wanted to do. What I did on the internet was also storytelling, just packaged differently," she said. Niharika emphasized that she wants audiences to recognize her for her craft rather than just her online persona.

After gaining experience in South Indian cinema, Niharika is set to make her Hindi film debut with Bhai Tera Star Hai, starring alongside Raghav Juyal. Directed by Vivek Agarwal, the film introduces her as Rashmi, a character described as feisty, flippant, yet heartfelt. The movie will hit Indian cinemas on July 31.

Speaking about the new project, Niharika highlighted the importance of learning multiple languages to broaden her opportunities. She expressed excitement about stepping into a larger industry and hopes to continue growing as an actress while staying true to her storytelling roots.
