The Malayalam thriller "Dhoomakethu" has officially set its theatrical release for September 11, 2026, according to a social‑media announcement made by the film’s makers on Sunday. The date was confirmed alongside a brand‑new poster and a short promotional video that give audiences a fresh visual preview of the story.
The new artwork marks a stark departure from the first look that showcased the lead pair, Sajin Gopu and Nikhila Vimal, locked in a tense underwater confrontation. In the latest image, the actors sit quietly on a riverbank beneath a star‑filled sky, while four masked figures stand behind them, holding bats. The composition hints at an underlying threat, adding a layer of mystery to the film’s impending narrative.
Directed by Sudhi Maddison, who made his debut with "Neymar", "Dhoomakethu" wrapped principal photography in February after beginning production in December of the previous year. The screenplay is credited to writers Sonny and Manu, while the plot and genre remain undisclosed by the team.
In addition to the leads, the cast includes Shine Tom Chacko, Siddharth Bharathan and Ganapathi in key roles. The technical team features Jinto George on cinematography, Chaman Chakko as editor and Justin Varghese handling the musical score.
The film is produced by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid, Sajin Ali and Abbas Thirunavaya under the banners of Happy Hours Entertainments and A & HS Production House. Fans of the genre can expect the movie to hit theatres on September 11, 2026, promising a blend of suspense and intrigue that has already begun to generate buzz through its striking visual updates.
