Salman Khan aids Assam flood victims; launches relief operation

Bollywood star Salman Khan has quietly stepped in to help people hit by the devastating floods in Assam, India. Working through his NGO, Being Human, and in partnership with a local fan club, the actor has launched a phased relief operation aimed at bringing immediate aid to the hardest‑hit areas.

According to a source close to Khan, the first phase of the campaign has already begun with the distribution of ready‑to‑eat food packets and essential supplies across flooded villages. The next stages will see the delivery of rations, medical kits, drinking water, sanitary napkins and mosquito repellent, as well as support for rebuilding schools and hospitals in the coming weeks.

The floods have caused widespread damage across Assam, with over 600 villages submerged and more than 4.45 lakh people affected in districts such as Sivasagar, Golaghat, Charaideo, Jorhat, Nagaon and Kamrup Metropolitan. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority reported that 631 villages in 21 revenue circles remain flooded, and the worst‑hit district, Charaideo, has seen 1.88 lakh residents displaced.

Agriculture and livestock have also taken a heavy toll: 37,139 hectares of farmland are underwater and 2.56 lakh animals have been affected, with 26,000 reportedly swept away. Infrastructure damage includes ruined roads in Jorhat, Sivasagar and Charaideo, and the loss of 171 houses completely washed away, along with 4,667 partially damaged homes.

While other actors such as Bhumi Pednekar and Adil Hussain have used social media to raise awareness, Khan’s hands‑on approach marks one of the few ground‑level relief efforts led by a Bollywood star in the region.
