Kangana Ranaut Clarifies 'Gutter Generation' Remark; Faces Backlash

Actor and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut sparked a heated debate after she described some young Hindu women as a “gutter generation” for flaunting what she called freedom without accountability. The comments, made during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, were quickly met with backlash from both the public and media outlets. In response, Ranaut took to Instagram, posting a reel aimed at her “media friends” in an attempt to clarify her stance.

In the video, she emphasized that she does not want her children to be exposed to vulgar language or sexualisation, stating, “We do not want our kids to use these vulgar words and get sexualised. It will bring shame. We don't accept this kind of behaviour and won't normalise it.” She further criticized what she perceived as a media conspiracy against her, noting that while she had congratulated the Skyroot programme and wished NEET examinees success, certain channels had highlighted her remarks to fuel controversy. Ranaut also questioned feminists, asking, “Will you teach this to your daughters? It is not a choice to stay disciplined.” She added that freedom, in her view, ends where “my nose and ears” begin, implying that societal norms should be respected.

Ranaut continued by stating that people who do not know her family well should not use slurs or verbally abuse her, remarking, “People call our PM exam buddy. Some consider him a friend, a leader and even their God. This is basic civic sense, and you need to learn it.” She urged the public not to be swayed by what she termed “feminazi” rhetoric, warning that such influence could lead to a “dark” future. The actress concluded that while science teaches us that human life is based on evolution, the feminazi movement is “bent on influencing animalistic tendencies,” which she believes could result in incarceration.

Ranaut’s remarks have ignited a broader conversation about freedom, accountability, and the role of women in society. While some defend her right to express her views, others criticize her for perpetuating divisive language. The controversy underscores the delicate balance public figures must maintain between personal expression and the impact of their words on diverse audiences.
