Ayodhya Ki Ramlila makes Delhi debut; features Ravi Kishan as Ram

The famed Ayodhya Ki Ramlila, which has already drawn crowds in its home city for seven consecutive years, is set to make its first appearance in Delhi this year. The 11‑day spectacle will run at the Constitution Club of India from October 10 to 20, before returning to Ayodhya for a second phase beginning January 15.

Organiser Subhash Malik explained that the move to the capital was driven by logistical challenges. “Storms in Ayodhya during the Dussehra period often disrupt the live telecast,” he said. “We want to keep our regular audience in Ayodhya from missing out, so we’re staging the first part in Delhi and the second in Ayodhya, just as we did in 2024 for the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony.” The production is broadcast on national television, local cable and YouTube, reaching an estimated 62 crore viewers across 50 countries.

Actor‑MP Ravi Kishan will reprise his role as Ram, a performance that began during the Covid‑19 pandemic and has become a staple of the Ramlila. Malik noted that previous years have seen two Miss India Universe titleholders—Manika Vishwakarma (2025) and Rhea Singha (2024)—play Sita, and that a popular name is being sought for the role again this year.

The cast list includes Arun Bakshi as Ravana, Puneet Issar as Parashuram, Vindu Dara Singh as Shiva, Raza Murad as Ahiravan and King Janak, Avtar Gill as Narad Muni, and Ved Sagar as Lakshman. Manoj Tiwari, Rakesh Bedi and Rahul Bucchar are slated for key roles in selected episodes. Malik also mentioned that actress Bhagyashree and singer Malini Awasthi, who have previously appeared in the Ramlila, are being approached for this edition.

Vindu Dara Singh expressed enthusiasm about performing in Delhi and later in Ayodhya, recalling his father’s legacy of playing Hanumanji and Shivji. “I’ve played Hanumanji before and have enjoyed playing Shivji for the last few years,” he said. Arun Bakshi, who portrays Ravana, added, “I’m excited to play this role in what is the world’s largest‑viewed Ramlila, especially now that it will be performed in Delhi.” Malini Awasthi, who played Mata Shabri, said she is still deciding on her participation for this year’s run.
