Thalapathy Vijay’s final on‑screen outing, the Tamil remake of the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, has crossed the ₹250 crore mark at the global box office, even as daily takings have slipped. The film, directed by H Vinoth, debuted on 23 July 2026 and has drawn a massive international audience, reflecting Vijay’s enduring star power.
Despite a steady decline in weekend earnings, the movie amassed ₹81 crore worldwide in its first week, with overseas receipts of ₹2.5 crore on day seven, according to the Sacnilk report. The cumulative figure rose to ₹255.63 crore by the end of week one, propelling the film into the coveted ₹250 crore club.
Jana Nayagan features a star‑studded ensemble that includes Pooja Hegde, Priyamani, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Mamitha Baiju, Nassar, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Narain, alongside Vijay. The plot, adapted from the Telugu original, blends action and drama while showcasing Vijay’s signature charisma.
H Vinoth praised Vijay, who has recently transitioned from cinema to politics and is now the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Speaking to NDTV, Vinoth said, “He has very good intentions. When he speaks about social and political issues like women’s empowerment, women’s safety, and corruption, he genuinely believes in what he is saying and wants to do good for the people.”
While the film’s daily collections have dipped, its overall performance underscores Vijay’s lasting appeal and the film’s resonance with audiences worldwide, marking a memorable end to his acting career.
