In a surprising twist of fate, Emmanuel Anthony, a Kerala‑based Marvel aficionado studying in Berlin, finally met his hero Tom Holland and secured the first ticket for a fan show back home. After watching the latest Spider‑Man film, Spider‑Man: Brand New Day, at the Vanitha Vineetha Theatre in Kochi, Emmanuel reflected that the experience still felt surreal, saying, “It still feels like a dream.”
Emmanuel, who has been a dedicated fan since the release of Deadpool & Wolverine in Germany, had planned his trip to Kerala around the movie’s Indian release. He explained to Onmanorama that watching a Marvel film in Kerala is a celebration, noting that he was often the lone cheerleader in German cinemas and that he now refuses to miss any Marvel release in India. His parents even ask him which movie is coming out whenever he announces a homecoming.
Traditionally, the first ticket of every Kerala fan show is signed by a local celebrity to generate buzz. This time, Emmanuel decided to elevate the tradition by inviting the global star himself. He recalled that in 2024 he had already secured autographs from Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman during the promotion of Deadpool & Wolverine, an experience that emboldened him to approach Tom Holland. When he learned that a fan event in Berlin would feature Holland and Zendaya, he felt compelled to attend.
The journey to Berlin proved an adventure. Emmanuel spent hours traveling, queued for a long time, and presented his Marvel Fans card to the organisers, explaining his purpose. Although the organisers initially offered to sign the ticket on his behalf, Emmanuel insisted on meeting Holland personally. He prepared a speech about Kerala’s vibrant fan culture and the community surrounding Marvel films, but the brief encounter left no time for it.
Despite the rushed interaction, Emmanuel was able to obtain the first ticket for the Kerala fan show directly from Tom Holland, a moment he describes as a dream come true. The event, which will feature the film’s premiere at the Vanitha Vineetha Theatre, promises to be a landmark occasion for fans across Kerala, celebrating both the movie and the unique fan traditions that have grown around it.
