Uyir OTT Release Date; Available on JioHotstar August 4

After a theatrical run that began on June 26, 2026, the Malayalam crime‑mystery drama Uyir will transition to the digital arena on August 4, 2026. The film, directed by M. Padmakumar and produced under the Wow Cinemas banner by Santhosh Thrivikraman, will stream exclusively on JioHotstar. In a move that broadens its reach, the release will be available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, allowing a pan‑Indian audience to experience the story from day one.

Starring Roshan Mathew as Sub‑Inspector Ajeeb, the narrative follows a young, probationary police officer who is thrust into a baffling case when the decomposed body of an unidentified woman is found in a well along the Kerala‑Karnataka border. With scant evidence and limited institutional support, Ajeeb, assisted by experienced ASI Joy (played by Baiju Santhosh), digs deeper into the mystery while grappling with his own psychological turmoil. Athulya Chandra portrays Shehna, and the supporting cast features Shruthy Menon, Vineeth Thattil David, Santhosh Thrivikraman, Saiyami Kher, Vinod Sagar, Shaju Sreedhar, Srikant Murali, and Divya M. Nair.

The screenplay, crafted by Nikhil K. Menon and Shaji Marad, is based on a true story and weaves crime, mystery, and psychological drama into a compelling investigation. Ajay David Kachappilly’s cinematography captures the tense atmosphere, while Ranjan Abraham’s editing maintains a brisk pace. Manikandan Ayyappa’s score underpins the film’s emotional beats, and the soundtrack features vocals from K. S. Chithra, Hesham Abdul Wahab, Nikhil K. Menon, and Charles Nazareth, with lyrics penned by Shibu Chakravarthy, Santhosh Varma, R. Niranjan Bharathi, and Dr. Umesh Pilikudelu.

With its release on JioHotstar, Uyir promises to bring a gripping, border‑based murder mystery to viewers across multiple linguistic markets, offering a fresh take on the crime‑drama genre that blends investigative intrigue with personal struggle.
