In a touching tribute to a friendship that spanned decades, veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty visited the newly completed family home of the late actor‑director Cochin Haneefa on August 1, 2026. The house, located in Vennala, Kochi, had been built using Haneefa’s savings and was finally ready for a housewarming ceremony that Sunday.
Mammootty, accompanied by his wife Sulfath, arrived at the residence to meet Haneefa’s wife Fazila and their children. The family had recently moved into the home, which had long been a dream of Haneefa’s. The visit was more than a social call; it was a chance for Mammootty to revisit memories of a bond that extended beyond the silver screen.
During the trip, Mammootty spent time with the family, walked through the newly finished rooms, and posed for photographs with Fazila and the children. He reflected on the deep friendship shared with Haneefa, who had directed Mammootty in several films, most notably the critically acclaimed family drama “Valsalyam.”
Friends and colleagues of both actors have often spoken of the warmth and camaraderie that defined their relationship. The housewarming event, held last Sunday, marked the fulfillment of a dream that had remained unfulfilled for more than fifteen years, bringing closure to Haneefa’s family and honoring his legacy in Malayalam cinema.
