Avika Gor seeks performance-driven roles; focuses on substance over screen presence

Avika Gor, who first captured audiences as Anandi in the long‑running serial Balika Vadhu, has made it clear that she is now prioritising depth over visibility in her choice of projects. In a recent interview with ANI, the actress explained that she wants to be remembered for powerful performances rather than mere screen presence.

“I just believe that people expect a lot of performance out of me,” Gor said, reflecting on the roles she has taken in films and television. She added that she deliberately seeks scripts and characters that allow her to showcase her acting skills, rather than being relegated to a background role. “I will always be extremely conscious about choosing the right scripts and choosing the right characters,” she emphasized.

Gor is set to return to the small screen with the stunt‑based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, hosted by filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Speaking on the sidelines of the show, she admitted that while the current season remains physically and mentally demanding, her previous stint in season 9 (aired in 2019) was more challenging. “The stunts that I was performing right now did not really scare me to a level where I would feel that I should give up,” she said.

Looking ahead, Gor revealed that she will soon feature in a Punjabi music video scheduled for release on August 7. She also hinted at additional projects in the pipeline, including a possible return to television, though she declined to provide specifics at this time. “There might be something to do with TV as well, very soon. I can’t talk about it right now,” she said.

With her focus firmly set on substance, Avika Gor is carving a niche for herself that balances her established television fame with a deliberate pursuit of roles that challenge and showcase her talent.
