Imran Khan Returns to Films; First Movie in 10 Years on Netflix

After a decade away from the silver screen, Bollywood heartthrob Imran Khan is making a highly anticipated return with a new Netflix original, Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. The romantic comedy, described by Khan as a “grown‑up” love story, is slated for a late‑year release on the streaming platform. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor confirmed that the film is currently in post‑production and will be his first feature since 2015’s Katti Batti, which he directed with Nikkhil Advani and starred opposite Kangana Ranaut.

Khan, who first burst onto the scene with the 2008 hit Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, has long been associated with boy‑next‑door roles in romantic comedies such as I Hate Luv Storys, Break Ke Baad, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. He has also earned critical praise for his turn in the 2011 black comedy Delhi Belly, a performance many fans regard as his most iconic. After a string of commercially underwhelming releases, Khan stepped back from acting in 2016 to focus on his personal life and fatherhood, citing a need to “be the best version of myself for Imara.”

In the new project, Khan teams up with young actor Gurfateh Pirzada, whom he calls a “really great young actor.” The duo will share the screen in a story that Khan says reflects the phase of life he is in today, moving away from the youthful, coming‑of‑age characters that defined much of his earlier career. While details about the plot remain tight, Khan has emphasized that the film’s tone will be mature and age‑appropriate, signalling a deliberate shift in his on‑screen persona.

“I have just finished shooting a new movie. It’s my first movie in 10 years and we’re in post‑production right now,” Khan told reporters. “It’s called Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. It’s for Netflix and is scheduled to come out at the end of this year. It’s a grown‑up romantic comedy… age‑appropriate to where I am now.” The announcement has reignited enthusiasm among fans who have watched Khan’s career evolve from a fresh romantic lead to a more seasoned actor willing to tackle complex roles.

With Netflix’s global reach, Adhure Hum Adhure Tum promises to bring Khan’s comeback to a wide audience, potentially revitalizing his standing in Bollywood and beyond. As the film moves toward its release, industry observers and moviegoers alike are eager to see how Khan’s matured perspective will translate on screen and whether this marks the beginning of a new chapter in his cinematic journey.
