Bollywood’s paid‑preview model, which has gained traction this year, is set to include the upcoming comedy Ohh My Dog on Thursday, August 6. The film will be available for a single screening between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm at a price of just ₹149, a steep discount compared to the usual weekend rates that typically hover around the ₹200‑₹300 mark.
Industry insiders say the move signals the makers’ confidence in the film and aims to spark early word‑of‑mouth buzz. “By holding paid previews, the makers are demonstrating their confidence in the product,” a source told Bollywood Hungama. “Selling tickets at a low price point will entice viewers to sample the film, which is especially important for a movie that does not feature big stars.”
The strategy follows a trend that began with Dhurandhar The Revenge and continued with Bhooth Bangla and Welcome To The Jungle, all of which saw strong performance in their paid‑preview runs. Last month, Baby Do Die Do also offered a Thursday preview on July 2, a day before its full release.
Directed, written, and produced by Amit Rai—known for OMG 2—Ohh My Dog stars Pankaj Tripathi, Pawan Malhotra, and a supporting cast that includes several familiar faces. The film’s release strategy mirrors that of earlier hits such as The Lunchbox and Laapataa Ladies, which also leveraged nationwide screenings and paid previews to build momentum.
Distributors have already instructed theatres across the country to schedule the preview shows and to ensure that tickets are sold at the ₹149 rate. From Friday, August 7, the normal weekend pricing will apply. The paid‑preview model is expected to generate early buzz and drive audience turnout for the full release.
