Avika Gor Not Chasing Image Overhaul; Dares on Khatron Ke Khiladi

Avika Gor, best known for her debut as a child bride in the long‑running serial Balika Vadhu, has confirmed that her upcoming appearance on the Colors TV reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi is a personal challenge rather than a bid to reinvent her public image. The 29‑year‑old, who later worked in Sasural Simar Ka and in Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films such as Uyyala Jampala, Care of Footpath 2 and 1920: Horrors of the Heart, told PTI that she has never felt the need to break away from her “girl‑next‑door” persona.

“I would love people to see me as a girl‑next‑door, have people remember me as one of their own, so that is not something I’m chasing,” Gor said. “I’ve done two reality shows, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ and ‘Pati Patni Aur Panga’. With my experience, the idea of breaking a pattern or an image is not something I operate from.”

Instead, she framed the stunt‑based series as a chance to uncover a “courageous and daring” side of herself. “It’s a show where people get to see a side of me, which is courageous and daring, which was a surprise for myself. I got to know what I was capable of,” she added. The 29‑year‑old said the show was a milestone for her, a wish she had always had, and that she could not refuse the invitation. “I’m not sure how it will benefit me professionally or personally,” she admitted, but praised the experience as transformative.

Hosted by filmmaker Rohit Shetty, Khatron Ke Khiladi season 15 premiered on August 1 and pits celebrities against their fears through a series of stunts. Gor highlighted the camaraderie she found on set, naming fellow contestants Karan Wahi, Rithvik Dhanjani, Gaurav Khanna, Rubina Dilaik, Jasmin Bhasin, Vishal Aditya Singh, Farrhana Bhatt, Avinash Mishra, Shagun Sharma, Ruhaanika Dhawan, Orry and comedian Harsh Gujral as strong allies. “There was a time in the show where I had to ask for help, and I chose Rubina. She is one of the best,” she said.

Beyond the reality show, Gor remains focused on selecting roles that showcase performance over glamour. “I’m excited to juggle between multiple languages. All my characters have something to say; they are not furniture or dancing around the trees kind of characters,” she explained. “I’m choosing scripts wisely because it is all about performance and sticking to that is my priority.”
