Ahmed Khan Hints at Directing Hera Pheri 3; Working with Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty

Ahmed Khan, who recently helmed the action‑comedy Welcome To The Jungle starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, has hinted that he could take the reins of the long‑awaited Hera Pheri 3. The trio, who have become synonymous with the hit comedy franchise, were set to reunite for a third instalment, but the project stalled after director Priyadarshan walked away.

Speaking about the possibility of directing the film, Khan said, “That’s a spot which everybody would want to be in. Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Firoz Nadiadwala and Hera Pheri are like a family, and for me, I am a part of that cinema. So, whenever it is made, I am going to be a part of it, irrespective of whether I direct it or not. We will make it together.” He added that his experience working with the three actors on Welcome To The Jungle has cemented his belief that they are inseparable in the minds of audiences.

“I have worked with all three of them, and I even started my career with Akshay and Suniel. When I had all three of them in my film, I didn’t read them as Babu Rao, Shyam and Raju. For me, they were characters from my film. But when they three get together, your eyes are so well tuned to see them as that. The timing of the three of them is still the same. Many times, I had to break it. That was my only battle with them,” he explained.

After a two‑decade hiatus from pure comedy—his last comedic outing was the 2007 film Fool N Final—Khan returned to the genre with a new approach. He described his current work as “humorous films which look serious,” a blend he calls “British humour.” He also revealed that his present focus is on launching his son, Azaan Khan, and that he plans to announce another major project soon.

With the director’s track record and the enduring chemistry of the Hera Pheri trio, industry insiders are watching closely to see whether Ahmed Khan will finally bring the beloved comedy series back to the big screen.
