Aditya Dhar’s two‑part blockbuster, Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has not only raked in record‑breaking box‑office figures but also sparked a cultural phenomenon around what the filmmaker calls “peak detailing.” The phrase, which has become a meme on social media, celebrates Dhar’s obsessive attention to the smallest elements of a film that might otherwise go unnoticed by the audience.
In a recent interview with Glute.com, actor R Madhavan, who played a pivotal role in both films, disclosed that Dhar invested an extra ₹10 crore solely on this “peak detailing.” Madhavan explained that a project of eight hours requires meticulous layering of details that could be missed if not carefully crafted. He added, “If somebody was told before the film that they spent ₹10 crore extra only towards this peak detailing, they’d say, ‘You’re mad. Who sees all that? Nobody sees. It won’t be seen.’ I would have said it.”
Madhavan went on to say that the success of Dhurandhar had a profound effect on him. “For me, it shook me up because… no, actually I won’t say it shook me up. I think it reiterated what I’ve been believing for the longest time. I needed an endorsement that I’m going in the right direction. It reaffirmed my faith that our storytellers have to catch up with our audience. I think that’s the biggest revelation.”
The two‑part franchise, directed by Dhar and headlined by Ranveer Singh with co‑stars Sara Arjun, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt and Rakesh Bedi, has become a major commercial triumph. The first installment grossed roughly ₹1,300 crore worldwide, while the sequel surpassed it with over ₹1,800 crore. The second film also became the first Bollywood movie to cross the ₹1,000‑crore mark at the Indian box office.
After the memes began circulating, Dhar himself joined the trend. He acknowledged the jokes in a birthday post on X, thanking audiences for their love and support, and expressed delight at watching the memes spread online. Meanwhile, Madhavan’s recent biographical drama G.D.N., released on August 7, stars him as the inventor and engineer G D Naidu alongside Sathyaraj, Jayaram, Priyamani and Dushara Vijayan.
