Nitesh Tiwari’s epic retelling of the Ramayana is set to hit screens worldwide on Friday, 6 November, with a staggered release that sees India receive the film on Sunday, 8 November, coinciding with Diwali. The decision follows the release of the film’s English‑dubbed trailer earlier this week, which, for the first time, disclosed the exact date of the global launch.
The blockbuster stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as the demon king Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita, joined by a sizable ensemble that includes Ravie Dubey, Sunny Deol, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor. Part One is slated for November, while Part Two is expected next year, ahead of the next Diwali.
Producer Namit Malhotra explained the two‑day gap during an interview with NDTV at the inauguration of his Prime Focus Studio in Mumbai. He confirmed that the film would release in India on Diwali, but noted that international distribution typically follows a Friday schedule, hence the 6 November global release.
Malhotra also highlighted the massive online buzz generated by the trailer, claiming it surpassed a billion views in five days. He expressed gratitude for the worldwide response and emphasized the partnership with Sony Pictures, aiming to present Ramayana as a universal cinematic experience.
With a planned worldwide launch on 6 November and a wide Indian release on 8 November, audiences can expect to experience the epic saga across multiple markets, aligning the film’s debut with the cultural significance of Diwali in India.
