Yash's Toxic trailer sparks mixed reactions; excessive violence raises eyebrows

Yash’s highly anticipated film Toxic dropped its first trailer on Saturday, instantly sparking a wave of mixed reactions across social media. The four‑minute clip showcases the star in a series of intense, violent scenes that have left some viewers praising his performance while others criticize the excessive gore and perceived lack of originality.

The trailer positions Yash as a ruthless gangster who shows no loyalty, hinting at a dual role where he plays both father and son. While the film features a strong supporting cast—including Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth—it offers little insight into the plot, leading to confusion among some fans who felt the teaser was too cryptic.

Comparisons to Yash’s earlier blockbusters quickly surfaced. One comment on the internet noted, “Looks like KGF on Steroid,” while another expressed bewilderment, writing, “Will need one more brain to watch this film.” Some viewers also pointed out the overacting and the constant screaming of female characters, with one user remarking, “Yash was doing a lot of overacting. The girls were screaming for no reason through out.”

Critics of the trailer argued that the film offers nothing new, stating, “Nothing in this film seems original. Everything feels like a derivative of a derivative of a derivative.” A sarcastic comment about the film’s delayed release added, “Now we know why it got delayed from clashing over with Dhurandhar 2 😂. Even they knew.” Another fan humorously suggested the film should have incorporated elements from KGF, Animal, Kabir Singh, and “a little garam masala” to become truly toxic.

Not all feedback was negative. Some fans praised the trailer’s fresh vibe, with one user declaring, “The #Toxic trailer looks really fresh and brings a completely new vibe.” Another comment highlighted the director’s influence, jokingly asking, “Who is Sandeep Reddy Wanga😂 Real Spirit Animal to ye hai 🔥🔥.”

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic will hit theaters on August 26. The film also stars Kiara Advani alongside the ensemble cast, promising a mix of action and drama that fans are eager to see on the big screen.
