Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated sequel, Jailer 2, has already crossed the ₹5 crore threshold in advance bookings across Kerala, according to box‑office tracker Jerin Georgekutty. The Tamil action‑comedy, slated to open worldwide on Thursday, 15 October, is still gathering tickets in the state, with more showings expected to become available before the release.
In a tweet posted at 10:37 AM on Tuesday, 13 October, Georgekutty confirmed that real‑time advance sales in Kerala had exceeded ₹5 crore. He added that bookings were ongoing and that additional shows would soon open for reservation, suggesting a strong opening‑day potential. The tracker cautioned that the final opening‑day gross will depend on factors such as ticket sales closer to the release, the number of shows available, and audience reaction after the first screenings.
Jailer 2 is the sequel to the 2023 film Jailer, written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. Rajinikanth reprises his role as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, joined by returning cast members Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, and Rithvik. The new installment also introduces a host of fresh faces, including S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan, and Jatin Sarna.
The film features cameo appearances from celebrated actors Mohanlal as Mathew and Shiva Rajkumar as Narasimha, as well as Jackie Shroff and others. Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with Vijay Kartik Kannan handling cinematography and R. Nirmal in charge of editing.
With its worldwide theatrical debut set for 15 October, Jailer 2 is poised to make a significant impact in Kerala, where the ₹5 crore advance booking figure signals a potentially double‑digit opening day, provided the audience response remains positive.
