Jailer 2 hits ₹50 crore in Kerala; Rajinikanth joins elite club

In a remarkable turn of events, Rajinikanth’s latest Tamil action‑thriller, Jailer 2, has surpassed the ₹50 crore mark in Kerala, achieving this milestone within just six days of its theatrical debut. Industry tracker AB George confirmed the figure on X on Tuesday, October 20, noting that the film has now joined the elite club of Tamil releases that have crossed the half‑billion‑rupee threshold in the state. This makes Jailer 2 only the third Tamil film, after the original Jailer and Leo, to reach this benchmark in Kerala.

It is also the second time Rajinikanth has headlined a film that has crossed ₹50 crore in Kerala, underscoring his enduring box‑office pull in the region. The numbers reported by AB George refer specifically to the film’s gross collection in Kerala, and the tally is expected to climb as the movie continues its run.

Directed and written by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel picks up the story of retired jailer Muthuvel Pandian, portrayed by Rajinikanth. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner and features a mix of returning cast members—Ramya Krishnan as Pandian’s wife Vijaya, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, and Rithvik—and new additions such as S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Vidya Balan. Cameo appearances by film icons Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Hrithik Roshan, and Vijay Sethupathi add further star power.

Vinayakan returns as Varman, the idol smuggler introduced in the first film, while Anirudh Ravichander supplies the music, Vijay Kartik Kannan handles cinematography, and R. Nirmal edits the final cut. As Jailer 2 continues its theatrical run, industry watchers will keep a close eye on its daily earnings and overall box‑office trajectory in Kerala and beyond.
