Dhoomakethu Hits Netflix; Malayalam Time‑Loop Comedy Streams Oct. 23

Malayalam cinema’s latest comedy, Dhoomakethu, is set to hit Netflix on Friday, October 23, 2026, after its theatrical run that began on September 25. The film, directed by Sudhi Maddison, follows Kuttan, a 35‑year‑old groom played by Sajin Gopu, who finds himself trapped in a time loop that threatens his wedding plans with the bride, Sharmila, portrayed by Nikhila Vimal.

In the story, Kuttan’s anxieties about how others will perceive his upcoming marriage are compounded when a series of unexpected events forces him to relive the same day repeatedly. As he struggles to break the cycle, the film blends comedy and fantasy, offering audiences a light‑hearted yet inventive take on the time‑loop trope.

The cast also features Shine Tom Chacko, Sidharth Bharathan, and Ganapathi S. Poduval in key supporting roles. Production was overseen by a team that includes producers Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid, Sajin Ali, and Abbas Thirunavaya. The screenplay was written by Sonny and Manu, while Jinto George handled cinematography and Vivek Harshan was in charge of editing.

Music for the film was composed by Ankit Menon, with lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar and Muthu. Technical contributions came from production designer Ouseph John, sound designer Renganaath Ravee, costume designer Mashar Hamsa, makeup artist R G Wayanadan, stunt director Steven Kumar, and sound mixer Vishnu Sujathan. Color grading was performed by Color Planet Studios, with Remesh C P as colourist, and visual effects were supplied by Pictorial FX and ProlabVFX.

Netflix will stream Dhoomakethu in five languages—Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada—providing viewers with a multilingual viewing experience. The digital release follows the film’s cinema debut by almost a month, giving those who missed the theatrical run a chance to enjoy the time‑loop comedy online.
