Hollywood star Anne Hathaway revealed that she and her husband, Adam Shulman, are expecting their third child, a pregnancy she described as a “buzzer‑beater” in a recent interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers. The Oscar‑winning actress, who turned 43 this year, shared that the couple had very low expectations before learning they were pregnant, citing the statistical odds of conception at her age as “one to two percent.”
Speaking at the New York City premiere of The Odyssey, Hathaway explained that she and Shulman approached the news with a realistic, healthy mindset, accepting that the chance of a successful pregnancy was slim. “There’s always hope until there’s not, but when you get to a certain age, that hope looks like 1 per cent to 2 per cent,” she said, adding that they decided to see where life would take them.
The actress expressed deep gratitude for the pregnancy, calling it a blessing and emphasizing that she and her family do not take the opportunity to welcome another child for granted. She noted that, based on personal experience, not everyone gets to have a child at that age, especially when it’s something they truly want.
Hathaway and Shulman, who married in 2012, already have two sons, Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6. She first announced the pregnancy on Instagram on June 19, posting a video in a flowing white dress with Barbara Lewis’ “Baby I’m Yours” playing in the background. After the announcement, a source told People that Hathaway is focused on family as she prepares to become a mother of three.
Although she has not yet disclosed the gender of the baby, Hathaway recently reflected on her experience as a “boy mom” in People’s World’s Most Beautiful 2026 issue. She joked that being a boy mom has influenced her fashion sense, saying she must be ready to switch from a serious business meeting to a pickup basketball game at any moment. She added a humorous note about morning routines, warning that “you 100 percent are going to have a projectile thrown at you probably by the end of breakfast.”
