Noor and Khan's Viral Song Aarzu Tops Billboard India Chart; Collaborates with Asim Azhar

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, producer Shivam Choraria – better known as Noor – and 18‑year‑old singer‑songwriter Khan shared how their breakout hit “Aarzu” went from a casual Instagram DM to a chart‑topping single on Billboard India. The two had never met before the message, but a chance connection on social media sparked a six‑hour studio session in a Delhi hotel that yielded three tracks, one of which would become the viral anthem.

According to Noor, the collaboration almost didn’t happen. “I got a DM from Khan saying he loved my music and that he also made music,” he recalled. “At first I was very ignorant, but when I actually checked out his music, it was pretty interesting.” The producer was traveling to Delhi a few weeks later, and the pair decided to meet. What started as a casual writing session turned into a productive jam in Noor’s hotel room, where they spent six hours creating three songs. “Aarzu isn’t just one song – it’s actually part of an EP. We made it in a random session, fine‑tuned it later and put it out ourselves,” Noor explained.

Khan, who was juggling exams at the time, described the first reply as unexpected. “I wasn’t expecting any replies because at that time I had my exams going on. But somehow…” he said, hinting at the serendipity that brought the two together. The track’s organic feel, Noor said, stemmed from its honest, experimental roots; he had mainly produced electronic music before this project and found that the collaboration sparked a “domino effect” that felt natural rather than forced.

“Aarzu” quickly amassed a massive audience, crossing 31 million streams on platforms such as YouTube and Spotify. The song entered the Billboard India Songs chart at number 8 on June 27, 2026, and climbed to its peak position of number 4 on July 18. The success of the single has opened doors for further releases, including the romantic track “O Piya” featuring Raqib, and a collaboration with Pakistani artist Asim Azhar.

In the same interview, Noor and Khan also discussed the evolving role of AI in music production and their belief that genuine emotion will always trump fleeting trends. Their journey from a simple Instagram DM to a chart‑topping hit underscores the unpredictable nature of modern music creation, where big studios and expensive setups are no longer the only path to success.
