Kunal Kohli makes international debut with English film All About Her; starring Hollywood actor Nick Sagar

Indian filmmaker Kunal Kohli, who first made a name for himself with hits such as Hum Tum (2004) and Fanaa (2006), has stepped onto the international stage with his latest project, the British English feature film All About Her. Filming wrapped in June after a shoot that spanned the United Kingdom, the movie brings together a global crew and stars Hollywood actor Nick Sagar, best known for his role in the The Princess Switch franchise, alongside British actress Amelia Gething, who has earned praise for her work in Emily and The Spanish Princess.

In an interview with the Bombay Times, Kohli reflected on the experience of directing in a language that is not his first. “Directing an English film and working with a full British and international crew is a whole new chapter in my life,” he said. “Shekhar Kapur has always been my inspiration, and I am hoping this starts a trend of more Indian filmmakers working globally.” He added that shooting in the UK with local talent gave him “a great deal of creative freedom” and that the actors’ trust allowed him to bring his vision to life on screen.

Producer Sheetal Parab oversaw the project, and a first‑look teaser poster was released on June 5. The poster’s caption described the film as a “haunting psychological drama where love, guilt and identity blur into one dangerous truth.” The makers plan to debut the film at various international film festivals before a wider release, according to a report by the Bombay Times.

Kohli’s journey began in the 1990s as a film critic and later as the host of the television show Chalo Cinema. He transitioned to directing with the 2002 film Mujhse Dosti Karoge, featuring Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Rani Mukerji. His breakthrough came with Hum Tum, a romantic drama that resonated with multiplex audiences, followed by the box‑office success Fanaa in 2006. Subsequent works include Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (2008), Teri Meri Kahaani (2012), and the Telugu film Next Enti (2018). He also ventured into acting with Phir Se (2018) and directed post‑pandemic releases such as Lahore Confidential (2021) and Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story (2025).

With All About Her, Kohli is not only expanding his directorial repertoire but also signaling a broader shift toward cross‑cultural collaboration in cinema. His statement that he hopes the film will inspire more Indian filmmakers to work internationally underscores his ambition to bridge Bollywood and Hollywood audiences alike.
