In a recent episode of the reality show Lock Upp Season 2, contestant Shreya Kalra accused veteran actor Ram Kapoor of crossing personal boundaries by kissing her without consent after she won a task that saved him from elimination. The incident sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with many calling Kapoor a “sleazy” and “tharki” figure.
Ram Kapoor’s wife, Gautami Kapoor, responded with a video on her Instagram, defending her husband and urging viewers to consider the context before judging. She said she had originally intended to remain silent about the show but felt compelled to speak out after a few days of backlash. “I am not defending him for the way he is,” she clarified, adding that he is “a man who is all heart” and that he entered the show without a strategy.
Gautami questioned why the controversy had only surfaced weeks into the competition, noting that the participants had lived together for four to five weeks before the alleged incident. She suggested that if Kapoor had behaved inappropriately, other contestants would have addressed it earlier. She also mentioned that the show’s edited footage might have misrepresented the situation, urging the public to be considerate of the family’s feelings.
She concluded by expressing her unwavering support for Kapoor, promising to stand by him until the end of the show. “Ram, we love you and we are rooting for you,” she said, adding that she would continue to back him through the remainder of the competition.
The controversy began when Shreya and fellow contestant Shilpa Shinde discussed a recent task. Shreya pointed out that Kapoor had come “too close” to Shivangi Joshi’s face and later kissed her cheek after winning a task. She warned that she would confront him if he tried to kiss her again, citing her father’s disapproval of such advances. Shreya also highlighted that she had won three tasks for Kapoor, which she felt should have earned him more support as a gang leader.
