After a year‑long celebration of Aamir Khan’s 60th birthday, which saw a curated film festival across Indian cinemas, the superstar’s most celebrated 2009 blockbuster, 3 Idiots, was notably missing from the lineup. Bollywood Hungama reports that NH Studioz has secured the rights to the film from Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films, and the studio will re‑release the movie on September 4, 2026.
According to a source quoted by the outlet, NH Studioz – led by Shri Narendra Hirawat and Shreyans Hirawat – has made one of the biggest catalog acquisitions in recent times by purchasing a major slate of titles from Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films. The deal, described as a “three‑figure crore” transaction, brings the studio’s library to nearly 5,000 titles across multiple languages.
The newly acquired catalogue includes classics such as Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, Kareeb, Mission Kashmir, Munna Bhai MBBS, Parineeta, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Eklavya: The Royal Guard, Ferrari Ki Sawaari, Broken Horses, Wazir, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and Shikara, in addition to the much‑anticipated 3 Idiots.
NH Studioz plans to bring the iconic film back to the big screen with a grand re‑release on September 4, 2026. The timing is deliberate, as the date falls during Teachers’ Day week and the day after producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s birthday on September 5, echoing the movie’s celebrated portrayal of student life and the educational theme.
Beyond the re‑release, NH Studioz is expanding its footprint in content ownership, distribution and production. The company is reportedly preparing to produce a new film starring Akshay Kumar, and is also developing another ambitious project with one of India’s leading filmmakers.
