Atlee, the celebrated filmmaker behind hits like Theri and Mersal, took to social media to gush over the newly screened trailer of Ranbir Kapoor’s epic adaptation of the Ramayana. The teaser, set to premiere online on July 24, was showcased in Delhi as part of a grand promotional event titled “Pratham Sankalp” held at Bharat Mandapam. The gathering drew the entire cast, including Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Laxman, among others.
In his tweet, Atlee praised the film’s visionary direction by Nitesh Tiwari and the meticulous craftsmanship of cinematographer Nitesh Tiwari, calling the trailer “absolutely blown away.” He highlighted the performances, describing Yash as “unbelievably lethal,” Kapoor as “stunning,” and Sai Pallavi as “ethereal.” The director expressed his wish for the team to achieve a blockbuster and called the film “truly epic.”
The event offered audiences a rare glimpse into the scale of the production. Ranbir Kapoor spoke about honoring the legacy of Arun Govil, who famously portrayed Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s television series. Kapoor praised Govil’s authenticity and influence, saying, “You have carried this responsibility for years with such grace, authenticity, and dignity. Your journey has been an inspiration—not just to actors like me, but to everyone who has watched Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan.” He added that carrying the blessings and teachings of Lord Ram has shaped his own life.
Sunny Deol, who will play Hanuman, thanked the makers for the opportunity, noting the significance of the epic for Indians. He remarked, “Portraying Hanuman ji is no easy task, but it will be a truly enjoyable experience because he is mischievous, innocent, powerful, and loved by all—a devoted follower of Ram ji.”
Ramayana: Part 1 is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on November 8, 2026, aligning with the Diwali festival. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, promises to bring a fresh, grand, and magical take on the ancient tale, with a star‑packed cast and high production values that have already sparked excitement among fans and industry insiders alike.
