Actor Prakash Raj, a long‑time supporter of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), marched in New Delhi on Monday as part of the Chalo Sansad rally. The veteran actor, who first joined the protest at Jantar Mantar on Sunday, held the Constitution high while speaking to the crowd, underscoring the party’s demand that elected leaders fulfill their duties and that the youth be allowed to fight for their future.
In an interview with PeekTV, Raj criticised the silence of many Bollywood stars on the student‑led protests and the hunger strike led by activist Sonam Wangchuk. He said, “People who speak, the world is watching… who will stand by the people. Simple.” When asked whether he was satisfied with the industry’s response, Raj replied that the question was not about happiness but about integrity, adding that history would judge those who remain silent.
Raj’s social media activity on X shows him standing beside Wangchuk and CJP founder Abhijit Dipke, calling for elected leaders to “do their jobs” and warning that “youth of this country is Dalit” and should not be sidelined by older politicians. He posted photos with Wangchuk, captioning them “In solidarity with the youngsters of my country at #JantarMantar @Wangchuk66 @Cockroachisback #justasking.”
Other celebrities who joined the march included Shabana Azmi and Poonam Pandey, while figures such as Hrithik Roshan, Vishal Dadlani, Sonakshi Sinha and Chinmayi Sripaada have expressed support for Wangchuk online. Raj’s presence at the CJP protest in Bengaluru last month further cemented his role as a vocal advocate for the movement’s cause.
As protests continue across India, Raj’s outspoken stance highlights a growing divide in the entertainment industry, with some stars choosing to stay silent while others, like him, use their platform to call for political accountability and youth empowerment.
