Vijay’s highly anticipated film Jana Nayagan is set to hit screens worldwide on July 23, following a protracted certification saga that pushed the release from its original January 9, 2026 date. The Central Board of Film Certification finally cleared the 3‑hour, 3‑minute feature with an ‘A’ rating, allowing distributors to lock in the new date after months of uncertainty and legal wrangling in the Madras High Court.
According to industry insiders, the first show of the film will begin at 6 am Indian Standard Time on July 23 across India, with Kerala’s first‑day first‑show (FDFS) also slated for 6 am under the distribution of SSR Entertainment. The United States premiere is scheduled for July 22 at 8:30 pm Eastern Standard Time, which aligns with the 6 am IST opening in India, ensuring a simultaneous global kickoff.
The film, directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, stars Vijay in the lead role alongside a supporting cast that includes Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Narain. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, while Sathyan Sooryan handled cinematography and Pradeep E. Ragav took charge of editing.
Jana Nayagan was originally positioned as Vijay’s final cinematic outing before his full‑time political transition and was initially slated to release ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. After the certification delays, the film’s release has been rescheduled to follow Vijay’s assumption of office as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Advance bookings have already begun in Bengaluru, and ticket sales are expected to open soon in other major markets. Industry reports suggest that the early morning screenings will attract large crowds, as moviegoers look forward to seeing the superstar’s latest performance after the extended wait.
