On Monday, July 20, 2026, the students’ association of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) announced that it is standing in solidarity with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and activist Sonam Wangchuk. The move comes amid a wave of nationwide protests demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the education sector and the leaking of exam papers.
At the FTII campus in Pune, the association staged a protest in support of the CJP’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ march. The statement from the FTII Students’ Association (FSA) highlighted that the entrance test paper for the institute had recently been leaked and that no accountability had been established. The FSA said that paper leaks were no longer isolated incidents but a growing national problem.
One FSA representative remarked that the issue of leaked exam papers had spread across the country, citing the recent leak of the FTII entrance examination paper as evidence. He added that the examination had been re‑held, but that the lack of proper oversight in educational institutions was a threat to the nation’s future. The representative urged that students from all over India unite to fight for a fair examination process.
Another member of the FSA criticized the government for using force instead of dialogue to address student concerns. The statement condemned the Delhi Police’s actions against peaceful protesters and called out the central government’s failure to engage with students demanding a transparent exam system.
With the protests continuing across India, the FTII Students’ Association has pledged to keep up its support for the CJP’s cause and to demand accountability from educational authorities. The association’s call for a fair examination process echoes the broader demands of students nationwide for reform and transparency in the education sector.
