Archana Puran Singh Reveals Decade-Long Film Career Lull; Struggling to Land Meatier Roles

Archana Puran Singh, a veteran actress and long‑time television judge, has spoken candidly about a decade‑long lull in her film career. The actress, best known for her roles in Bollywood hits such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Agneepath and Raja Hindustani, revealed in a recent interview with News18 that after the 2016 release of Bol Bachchan she received no new film offers for ten years, and even after the 2026 comedy Toaster she has struggled to secure substantial roles.

“I do get brand endorsement offers, but acting offers are still not coming my way,” Archana told the outlet. “It’s not like I’ve been flooded with offers even after Toaster. Great roles aren’t coming in yet.” She added that the industry’s perception of her as a busy television judge—often on shows like The Kapil Sharma Show and Comedy Circus—has made filmmakers think she was unavailable, preventing her from taking on film projects that required tight schedules.

When Bol Bachchan was released, trade analysts predicted a surge of offers for the actress. Archana said she promised to call them as soon as she received her first offer, but ten years passed without a single opportunity. She explained that her commitments to comedy shows meant she could not accept the limited roles that came her way, and that she could not manage a 15‑day shoot in Scotland, for instance.

Despite her popularity on social media, where she shares family vlogs and behind‑the‑scenes glimpses, Archana feels her acting career has stalled. She highlighted her recent performances in Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (2024) and the 2026 Toaster alongside Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, yet notes that these roles have not translated into a steady stream of larger projects.

Looking ahead, the actress is preparing for the release of Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya, a film directed by Himank Gaur that will stream on Prime Video on 24 July. The project also stars Kay Kay Menon, Naveen Kasturia, Deven Bhojani and Abhimanyu Singh, and Archana hopes it will help revive her presence in mainstream cinema.
