Cinema VinesPriyadarshan’s next thriller, Haiwaan, drops worldwide on September 11, 2026 and stars Bollywood heavyweights Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. The film’s first teaser, released after the initial poster launch, gives a taste of the dark, atmospheric tone the director is known for, while keeping the plot tightly wrapped.
The teaser focuses on mood rather than exposition, using shadows, silhouettes and fleeting shots of the two leads to create a sense of danger. A recurring question, “Hero Ya Haiwaan?”, is posed to the audience, hinting at a possible moral ambiguity between the characters but deliberately not revealing who is the hero and who is the “haiwaan.” This ambiguity is meant to heighten the suspense and leave viewers guessing about the relationship between Kumar and Khan.
Beyond the star pair, the cast includes Boman Irani, Saiyami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar in key roles. The film marks another collaboration between Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar, who is returning to a darker thriller genre after a string of commercial successes.
Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn under KVN Productions and Thespian Films, Haiwaan is positioned as a thriller that prioritises mystery over back‑story. The full trailer, expected to drop later, should offer more insight into the characters, their conflict and the hinted “haiwaaniyat.”
